I love to watch anime, read manga and gaming plays a BIG part in my life. I fantasize in anime characters alot, and I love everything Japanese. ❤

I'm lazy till the extent its ridiculous, and my mindset would be the greatest downfall in my life. I need a brain change. =D

    PC315570

I totally left out my Canon EOS 60D for the "18 things that I did when I'm 18 years old in 2010" entry. How can I??!!!

I finally got my own DSLR on Christmas day itself! Used my old Olympus to snap pictures of the DSLR for this entry and I realised that I don't really know how to use it anymore. I can't explain but I guess it's the after-effect of using a DSLR before for quite some time which I lent from a friend previously.

    PC315555

Pops kept rushing me to read the instruction manual.

    PC315558

    PC315569

Are you a Nikon or a Canon user?

Unfortunately, both red (Canon) AND yellow (Nikon) happen to be the colours that I dislike a lot but if I had to choose, I'll choose red.

The reason why I hate yellow is because it seems like almost all the food/fruits that I dislike are all yellow. You guys wouldn't understand. But I have nothing against Nikon, I was prepared to get a Nikon that day!

    PC315557

The dry box that I store my DSLR in. I didn't know such a thing existed because I was just told to get Thirsty Hippos to prevent fungus from growing when I was using a friend's DSLR for a couple of months.

Very intriguing box. I tend to stare at the meter to see if it's going up or down. O.O

    PC315560

Pops went to get the DSLR with me and asked me to get the EOS 60D because he like the digital screen below.

    PC315559

But I like the rotating screen better! It has certainly become easier for me to admire myself through taking pictures now. And of course photoshoots for my figures became more interesting as well!

    PC315568

    PC315565

Yes yes time to clean the dust hahahahahahaha!

Happy New Year everyone, it's approximately about 6 hours more till 2011! I will be at home taking pictures of figmas while counting down in my heart.

    1) Went to Japan, The Land of the Rising Sun.

And also the birthplace of my beloved boyfriends in the 2D world. I can't express my love for my boyfriends enough!

    ttt

It was a memorable trip. If you've not read my Anime Tour travelogues yet, the entries are being linked on the right side of this page. The next time I'm there I'll be taking my EOS Canon 60D with me. I'm planning to visit Japan again in 2011 around the end of the year or in 2012, before the world ends. :P

    2) Met someone I looked up to in Japan, Danny Choo.

    danny

I apologise for the low quality picture! I'm too lazy to find the original soft copy from my collection of pictures in Flickr because it is damn hard to navigate around to pictures that I uploaded sometime ago, so I just grabbed it from Photobucket.

Anyway, Danny Choo brought us around Akihabara and visited various places like Volks, Kotobukiya, Eroge shops, etc. He was the main reason that I made my sudden decision to Japan! I never thought I would interact with him in real life, like dining on the same table in the maid cafe, chatted about his dollfies, and even taking pictures together.

    I'm glad I went!

    3) Swept by the "Collector" mindset and am a figurine collector now.

    001

If you're a regular of my blog then you should know that I blog about my figures more than my own private life. I'm an otaku from the start by buying anime DVDs, collecting manga and playing console games, but I evolved to something even higher. A full fledged otaku that spends her coffin money on figurines!

Before I went to Japan, I do collect figurines as well. Just that after I came back, the inner beast decided to awaken inside me and now I'm a slave of manufacturing companies like Goodsmile, Maxfactory, Banpresto, Alter, and the list goes on.

By slave I mean I'm unable to surpress my inner beast and placing orders without thinking. :S

I've been quite busy these few days so I don't have time to snap pictures of my figures above. Couldn't decide which one to open first too. I don't think I'm opening everyone because I'm planning something. *wink*

    4) Worked at TCC for somewhere around two weeks and quit.

    working

No such happiness as you can find in the anime "Working!!". I disliked the environment, the rules, and everything that sucked. I don't have much to say but it's not my type of thing and I'm glad I left the place.

    5) Attended my first Symphony Orchestra "Fantasy Comes Alive!".

    FF

And our group got interviewed by Animax! Had to say a line encouraging audiences to continue watching Animax or something like that, I forgot.

The orchestra concert was surreal! It was my first time hearing anime music and video games inserts being transformed into an orchestra. すごく楽しいかった!

The only thing I was sad about was that the piece I was seriously looking forward to, which was the Final Fantasy X's "To Zanarkand" was cancelled! Although the entire performance made up for my loss but I really wanted to hear it. I was prepared to cry if they play the song ok!

    6) Gotten Hitoshi Sakimoto's signature and shook his hand.

    FFF

I remember I was quite excited for it because I don't get to meet legendary humans a lot, especially when he's one of the Final Fantasy composers! Every single creature on Earth (including dogs, cats, hamsters, fishes, etc) would know what is Final Fantasy *ahem*.

Hitoshi Sakimoto is best known for scoring the games "Final Fantasy Tactics" and "Final Fantasy XII". More information on him here!

    AA

His signature which I kept dearly inside my treasure box.

    7) Tried cosplaying for the first time for COSMO Parade and Cosfest 2010.

    lenalee

This was taken before the COSMO Parade started.

I'm actually very touched leh because even after so long, there's STILL people recognizing me as the Lenalee during the COSMO Parade. Just last week, I had someone that asked me if I was the Lenalee at COSMO! He said my cosplay was quite memorable so he remembers... *touched*

I'm sure that comes as a big compliment to every cosplayer out there. To me, it means much more because that was my first time doing it, and I don't think I'm good enough to be called a cosplayer yet. But, thanks Robin!

    cosfest

And this is Alex and I after I changed out of my costume. Cosfest was kinda boring for me so I went home halfway! After seeing this pictures I have a sudden urge to tie double ponytails out. O.O I better do it before I cut my hair short.

    8) Interviewed by RazorTV and appeared on STOMP.

    razor

Honestly, I didn't know what was RazorTV until I saw the camera with the words "The Straits Times" printed on it, so they should be affiliated I think? Both Sherry (Konan) and I have a video each of our own.

Her interview is about cosplaying since she's quite an expert in the field.

My interview is about my views on Otakuism since I'm an otaku myself. I'm very proud to be one and I have no intention of changing for anybody, but the interview was very sudden so I didn't know what to say.. so I kinda screwed up hahahaha.

    http://www.razor.tv/site/servlet/segment/main/lifestyle/50400.html

    http://www.razor.tv/site/servlet/segment/main/lifestyle/50398.html

If you're interested you can see the 1-to-1 interview above. But my voice is quite masculine so pardon me. If I can choose I'll want a feminine voice too.

    9) Working in a Government sector.

    4821449620_0b7c59a8a8_z

My workdesk in July. Of course it has evolved into a mini Anime corner by now. :P

    5290006439_11368df541_z

I like working here, I wouldn't say much but if you're a follower of my Twitter you'll know why I love my job. Compared to working at TCC, this is so much better. In fact my dream job is to be working in an office, so I don't really know why most of the people out there dislike office jobs. Perhaps because I dislike changes.

And I don't exactly welcome challenges. I'm a very boring and lazy person, really.

I wouldn't say I'm proud of it but I'm just being me. As long as I feel happy I don't really care what others think about my life.

    10) Went to Bintan for the first time.

    4871332543_7411fbe258_z

Yes, I have a lot of firsts in 2010! More to come until the 18th point.

I've never been to Indonesia before but I think it's about the same as Pulau Ubin or Malaysia. It's very targeted towards tourists with regards to their service, their prices (O.O), the things they offer, and more.

Good experience but I don't think I'll go there the second time. Nothing much to explore there.

    11) Spoilt uncountable headphones/earphones (ongoing).

    PC245550

Standard already. This cycle will continue till the day I die. I don't have any relationship luck with any electronic gadgets so if that's it then so be it. I cannot do anything to change my fate but I can embrace the time spent with each and every single one of them.

You guys will always be in my heart!

    12) Attended Natsu Matsuri again with Grace and Aizen-sama.

    4919453749_24c7b48f15_z

How's my self curled hair? I personally think I did a good job doing that despite it was my FIRST time. Yayayaya first time again HAHAHAHA.

I promised them in 2009 that we'll be going for Natsu Matsuri again this year and we did! This time we even wore yukatas (except Aizen-sama). And the professional me even managed to snatch up the last three apple candies available! I wouldn't forget that. ^^

    13) Went for Seiransai [星蘭祭] 2010.

    5014772020_38bb46ebb6_z

    Whoops! I'm caught. XD

Seiransai is a kind of cultural open house festival to enroll more students to their school. The school that I went to was "Waseda Shibuya". It was fun! If you wanna know what is it like you can check out my entry on September 20th.

    14) Attended AFA X on 13th and 14th November as a VIP.

    5181613179_deac6ff15e_z

I suffered from post event withdrawal syndrome after that. :(

It was my first time attending AFA too, I missed last year's one because it was my first Japanese lesson and I didn't want to miss it.

    5182213288_44e7851b9d_z

    5181613421_e9d9a3442a_z

Met a lot of good friends too! Now Jeff and I are best friends because Facebook says so.

    15) Got picked to get Ichirou Mizuki and Angela's signed posters.

    003

Lucky desu! I hope I'll have such luck again during next year's AFA! I have a Japanese friend that LOVES Ichirou Mizuki (Aniki) a lot and when I showed her this picture, she kept thanking me profusely! She must have love him a lot.

    16) Visited a pub for the first time.

    5153827869_9c6d8310c2_z

If you want to hang out in a pub, you must be prepared to open your ears graciously. Not everyone is a good singer but everyone wants to hog onto the microphone. Not that I mind since I'm not a good singer either, but it's still not very pleasant I guess.

    17) I had braces on.

    5213806516_7bd423b375_z

I've been saying I wanted braces I wanted braces I wanted braces for the longest time but didn't exactly do it because my parents thought that it was unnecessary and everytime I wanted to have braces, I'll have something I really want and the braces thought just went poof.

Now I'm really having them on, and paying for it myself. Not a cent comes from my parents. It's still a pain chewing food though and whoever says having braces on for the first few weeks will lose their appetite? It is a piece of FALSE information!

My appetite did not drop even when I had high level difficulty chewing my food. Your stomach will feel hungry no matter how hard it is to chew your food. YOU WILL STILL CHEW IT. -_-

    18) Visited a club (St James Powerhouse) for the first time.

    5273631541_6ebeaea709_z

I gave my first to Yoshiki Fukuyama! Sounds wrong? Yeah a little.

It was my first time to a club but I didn't went there to club, I was there listening to a LIVE performed by Yoshiki Fukuyama himself. I realised in 2010, I've met a lot of Japanese artistes and I love it! Hope 2011 is as fulfilling but I actually doubt so.

    Nice things don't come continuously.

    .
    .
    .

And that's the 18 things that was somehow memorable to me in 2010! As you can see, almost every point is a first time for me. Even though 2010 isn't exactly a good year compared to 2009, but I've made a lot of friends in my otaku circle and I like it! It's nice knowing more people with the same interests as you.

That includes my blog readers like Kenny and Yingfeng. They're kinda like in my group of otaku circle that I've made recently!

I just organised a ramen event (HAHAHA!!) on Facebook and I hope everyone can come!

Gingerbread Men baking @ my place on the 26th!   Permalink
    Wednesday, December 29, 2010

    012

I was more like the instructor than the one baking, because Yiloong aka Gayness aka Paparazzi is a greenhorn in baking (I took his virginity) so might as well let him do almost everything. It's the first time he came to my house too, after knowing me for 6 years. Well, late bloomer I suppose.

    022

I got all the ingredients ready for his first surreal baking experience. If cleaning up isn't such a pain I would have taken up baking as a leisure activity when I'm out of the 2D world.

    003

    006

    005

Initial plan was to bake Gingerbread Men. Actually all along we were planning on baking Gingerbread Men but somehow.... it didn't turn out to be what we expected. We made something out of the world.

Oh wait, correction. HE made something out of the world.

    007

    Why oh whyyyy?

    011

I didn't touch the dough at all. Not that I am finding excuses for myself, but it's the truth! Yiloong aka Gayness aka Paparazzi doesn't have any talent in baking (or moulding in this sense). Not that I'm a professional one in this field but I'm somewhat better compared to him. :D

    009

    008

    010

    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .

And the result of something we didn't expect beforehand.

    017

    WE MADE ALIENS.

Yiloong aka Gayness aka Paparazzi wasn't satisfied with his performance so he did a second batch all over again. Except this time he didn't use a Gingerbread Man mould because he lost confidence in his own skills.

    018

He decided to do mini roti pratas. I wish him well in his future career.

    023

Grace dropped by my place too and from her expression, I think she wants to puke on Yiloong aka Gayness aka Paparazzi's dough. Yamete! If you do that, he's gonna fling a chair at you!

    020

    Out of focus, whoops.

    021

Even though I issued a "Out of Bounds" warrant to both of them, they still barged in my room. Argh! I should have locked it before they came! Not that I know where are the keys anyway, but still.. I issued a warrant and that means that.

However, they got their retribution, which came as a surprise.

Apparently my room is filled with so much dust that the moment Grace entered, she started sneezing and tears kept streaming down from her eyes. And once she leaves my room, she's fine. If she goes back in, the cycle repeats.

I forgot what kind of diagnosis Yiloong aka Gayness aka Paparazzi got but I don't think he felt well either.

You weak humans! Nothing happened to me even though I stayed in my room everyday for long hours. Not only that, I'm free from illnesses and hardly get sick in my entire life (unless you're counting in diabetes, but that's in the future). Go train yourselves and present yourselves to me when you are ready.

To be honest, I don't think my room is dusty at all. I can't understand why a long time ago, Amos came to my room and kept sneezing too. The next day, I heard he was sick at home. Whoops! Not my fault, nothing happened to me!

However the most recent period he came to my room, he was alright and didn't fall sick after that. In fact he was rolling happily on my bed and reluctant to get out. He was also enjoying throwing my stuff all around the room. Ha-ha-ha.

In conclusion, my room is a conducive, environmental-friendly place! :D

    019

But I still won't let humans in anymore.

P/S: Pictures are all taken by Canon EOS 60D. I got my first DSLR camera on 25th December 2010, Christmas day itself! I'm still trying to get used to how it works, but so far I'm enjoying fiddling with it. My Olympus camera will be sitting quietly somewhere beside my laptop.

I wanted to give my Olympus camera to my Brother but he recently just bought the newly released 3D effect camera so I don't have to give him mine anymore!
